Union College is proud to host Contagious Faith, a contemporary Christian music ministry, for a concert at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 14 in the College View Seventh-day Adventist Church. The concert will be free and open to the public.
Contagious Faith began in 2008 with four teenage friends coming together to share their love of God through music. Twelve years and three albums later, the group has changed in composition and style, but two of the original members, brothers Alexander and Anthony Cortes, have remained at its core. In addition to the Cortes brothers, Contagious Faith’s current lineup also includes Lexa Arante, Elarra Bankston and Daniel Henriquez, all of whom became connected through the Seventh-day Adventist community in central Texas, and most of whom are alumni of Southwestern Adventist University, a sister school of Union College.
For many years, album sales sustained music ministries, but with the rise of streaming services that pay independent artists a fraction of a cent per play, Contagious Faith now depends on crowdfunding. “I Know How This Ends” and “Lluvia En Mi Desierto,” their second and third albums, were both released in June 2016 after a successful Kickstarter campaign.
